Gore-Tex

Diagram of Gore-Tex breathable fabricGore-Tex is a unique, patented material made by WL Gore & Associates. It is a type of breathable, waterproof fabric – so although water cannot get in it does allow water to escape: the benefits in terms of dissipating sweat and moisture from already-wet materials is clear, especially in footwear applications.

The brand name Gore-Tex is well known across the world, and its combined properties of being breathable, waterproof and hard wearing have made it a favourite of outdoor pursuits activists the world over.

While it is of course eminently suitable for hiking and similar activities, it is also a fantastic material for constructing children’s shoes. Especially in the unpredictable British climate, and with children being prone to splashing around in muddy areas that adults typically would not venture into, Gore-Tex is perfect for ensuring that your children’s feet remain as warm and dry as possible.

At Young & Co we stock an excellent range of shoes and boots that utilise Gore-Tex, and as always it isn’t just great footwear that we offer, but fantastic service to boot!

If you need more advice about Gore-Tex then please do get in touch by phone or email and we will try our best to help you. Further information is also available from the Gore-Tex homepage should you wish.
